Counselling

General and perinatal narrative therapy

Are you interested in having conversations about things you’re up against without being made to feel like there’s something wrong with you?

Do you feel like things are pulling you away from being who you want to be?

Would you like to have counselling conversations which acknowledge the effects of oppression and bring forward your daily resistance to those forces?

I speak to people of all ages about things like…

  • Pregnancy, birth, and post-partum experiences (also known as perinatal counselling)

  • Conception and infertility journeys

  • Abelism, neurodiversity, experiences of chronic pain, illness or disability

  • Challenges and hopes in relationships and sex (including non-normative familial, sexual, romantic or platonic relationships)

  • Experiences of childhood sexual abuse, relationship violence, sexual violence and family violence

  • Grief and loss

  • Gender explorations and transitions

  • Responding to and surviving racism, homophobia, biphobia, fatphobia, police violence and other forms of structural violence

  • The effects of mental illness and of navigating the mental health system

  • Mental health effects of the climate crisis

Zan Maeder lives and works on Kaurna land. They acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded by the Kaurna nation or the many other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nations in the country now known as Australia. Aboriginal cultural connections to Country have never ceased and continue to survive ongoing colonization. Zan pays deep respect to the Elders, Ancestors and emerging leaders who sustain Culture and community and whose legacy of resistance has made their work possible.
